Lingotell International Meetup: Restorying Across Borders

We are pleased to invite you to the Lingotell International Meetup, an event combining insightful discussions and creative performances around restorying in Romani, Boyash (HU), South Sámi (NO), and Frisian (NL). During the event, we will share the key findings from our regional workshops in Hungary, Norway, and the Netherlands and showcase reimagined versions of traditional stories and oral histories in various artistic forms.

18:00 – Panel Discussion on Restorying – in English
Join us for an insightful discussion on the concept of restorying and its impact on cultural heritage preservation.
Topics will include:
📍How does restorying differ from simply translating or retelling stories?
📍What new layers of meaning does it add?
📍How do different cultural perspectives influence the storytelling process?
📍How do we engage and empower young people in the preservation of their heritage?

19:30 – Creative Performances by Workshop Participants featuring Independent Theatre Hungary
/These will be accompanied by English subtitles./
Enjoy a series of live performances featuring re-imagined stories in Romani, Boyash (HU), South Sámi (NO) and Frisian (NL), created by young participants.
A small reception will follow.

The Lingotell project is a joint initiative of Sijti Jarnge in Norway, the Fryske Akademy in the Netherlands, and Pro Progressione in Hungary, aimed at preserving and strengthening Europe’s Indigenous and minority languages through the method of restorying.
