Reclaiming Technology Sessions

Join us for the very first edition of “Reclaiming Technology Sessions” organised by multimedia artist Silvia Binda Heiserova and Pro Progressione. In this first session, taking place in Budapest, we will focus on topics around technology, gender, ethics, speed and speculative design.

We will start with an introductory public lecture on the topic “Reclaiming Technology: A Collaborative Feminist Approach” by Silvia Binda Heiserova. Afterwards, we will discuss the human relation with outer space in the context of technological acceleration in the public talk “Beyond the Space Race: Technology, Ethics and the Limits of Speed” with invited experts and artists. In the third part, we invite you to join the workshop “Slower Pace in Outer Space” hosted by the artist Irene Sánchez Mora, where you can build your own speculative deceleration device.

About Reclaiming Technology:
Reclaiming Technology is an ongoing artistic, practice-based research project initiated by Silvia Binda Heiserova as a resident artist of the EU Digital Deal Residency hosted by Pro Progressione. This project examines how technology, often perceived as a neutral tool, replicates social and gender biases and stereotypes, manipulates the pace of everyday lived time, consequently diminishing opportunities for critical reflection and inclusive participation.

Reclaiming Technology Sessions are one strand of this project, where we will explore what a feminist approach to technology could be, prioritizing inclusivity, equity and collaborative practices. This involves reinterpreting tools and systems to serve diverse functionalities and communities. Parallelly, we will apply interdisciplinary approaches that merge arts, informatics, electronics, design, and social advocacy.
