The partners of the LIFE Bauhausing Europe (LBE) project – co-funded by the LIFE Programme of the European Union – will jointly organise a constellation of New European Bauhaus Satellite Events across the pilot locations of Cartagena (ES), Blanca (ES), Budapest (HU), Varaždin (HR) and Ādaži (LV). Each local event reflects the project’s shared objective of reimagining public buildings and their surrounding neighbourhoods through participatory processes, cultural activation, environmental awareness and community-driven creativity.
Together, they show how the NEB values of beautiful, sustainable and together can be translated into placebased experiences that empower citizens and strengthen local identity.
The purpose of these events is to bring the values and methods of LIFE Bauhausing Europe into public life, making them visible and accessible for residents, local institutions and wider stakeholders. Each local satellite connects directly to the project’s ambition: to demonstrate how reimagined public buildings and revitalised urban spaces can foster belonging, environmental awareness, aesthetic quality and community-led change.
Although the formats differ, all partners explore themes such as neighbourhood identity, collective memory, sustainable everyday practices, circularity, intergenerational engagement and the relationship between people and their environment.
The constellation also highlights the co-governance and co-creation processes developed within LBE. Many activities build on the work of local working groups, participatory consultations or community sessions held during the project, ensuring that the NEB events emerge from ongoing transformation processes rather than functioning as isolated cultural occasions. This grounding strengthens the link between the events and the longterm evolution of each pilot building and neighbourhood.
All satellite events follow the NEB values of beautiful, sustainable and together, combining cultural expression with ecological responsibility and inclusive participation. While each city adopts its own approach, the constellation remains unified by its commitment to activating public space, strengthening local ties, modelling sustainable practices and fostering dialogue between citizens, municipalities and creative professionals.
By hosting parallel events across multiple cities, the partnership demonstrates how the NEB vision can be interpreted locally while contributing to a wider European narrative. The constellation shows how neighbourhoods can serve as practical laboratories for imaginative, community-driven transformation, reinforcing the LIFE project’s aim to create models that inspire replication elsewhere. Partners will also “visit” one another’s events through online check-ins, ensuring the festival holds an international dimension.
Together, the events form a multi-city celebration of neighbourhood identity, ecological awareness and collaborative transformation.
