Academy for Actors of Social Change focusing on Artivism is a 14 day long international training, with the aim to develop the skills of professionals working in the fields of youth education, social and creative practices.
The professional workshops are based on the theatre of the oppressed, devised process, community, and socially sensitive theatre methods.
During the program, the participants can gain an insight into a unique merge of socially engaged art techniques developed by experts throughout years of practising and teaching within the field of socially engaged arts.
It reflects current social, economic and environmental changes. It helps participants to process their feelings, thoughts and experiences related to this. Through the arts – Artivism, it gives them a tool to express themselves and be active, conscious participants in the changes.
The program has three main topics as inclusive societies, equality of all genders, environmental protection and art. The main connecting theme is activism, how people can get involved in art and how art can become a tool for social change.
During the two-week program the participants can get to know the world of theater that works in an intimate puppet theatre format, which can be performed in especially small spaces, even in living rooms. How to work with artistic tools and help women and young girls who suffer discrimination. How to cooperate with communities and even educational institutions using environmental education theatre tools. Besides that, how to initiate intercultural and intersectoral dialogue in society, encouraging the creativity of young people through art education, production of cultural content and improvement of public policies in the field of culture and youth.
Accordingly during the training, participants will have the opportunity to get to know the diverse artistic and pedagogical methodologies of experts working with disadvantaged groups. The structure of the program is workshop-based, allowing participants to not only learn the theory but experiment with and try out practical skills and techniques as well.
Throughout the Academy you will not only be able to expand your professional skillset, but you will further get the chance to ge to know other enthusiastic yet rigorous experts, and as such become a part of a wide, supporting professional network.
