We believe art plays a vital role in fostering deeper, more meaningful connections between people and the natural world. PLACE invites creative minds to explore, share, and expand artistic practices that connect citizens with nature.
Earlier this year, we launched an open call for artistic projects for a garden in Budapest, Brussels or Racconigi in Italy. From the many inspiring applications we received, 12 artists were selected to join us this summer for a 10-day creative camp in Piemonte, northern Italy. Together, we will delve into themes of art and ecology, exchange ideas and share skills. Later this year, 3 projects will be selected and brought to life in 2026.
We are thrilled to introduce to you the creative minds participating in this project and sharing their diverse and inspiring practices with you.

💚Stinne Linnehan
„I’m very excited to connect with fellow artists who share a passion for nature and community-building. Although I’ve been involved in social art projects for many years, I often find myself without peers who are also focused on nature-centered practices. I’m looking forward to discovering new ideas, exchanging methodologies, and deepening my artistic practice in this field.”

💚Arnout Vandeputte
„I’m drawn to how PLACE centers care, land, and the slow attention our world needs more of. As an artist and activist I want to make work that grows from the ground, literally and figuratively, and helps feel the beauty, history and urgency of the landscapes we’re part of. I believe creative work can bring people together, reshape how we understand our places, and support movements for ecological and social justice. I want to listen, get my hands dirty and build something that roots deep and reaches wide.”

💚B Bordoni
„Through participatory practices and research into mind-wandering, I to foster the emergence of new imaginaries and modes of listening and proximity between bodies, both human and non-human. I propose to combine a desire and a need: The desire to offer a free path to individual wellbeing and group awareness aimed at the creation of collective ‘Herbarium of the inner circle, resistant to the gentrification processes.”

💚Dominika Gergö
„I’m Dominika Gergő, and I believe that creating green, community-centered spaces in urban areas is more crucial than ever. I’m passionate about connecting people with nature and supporting an exciting opportunity to help build a connected, environmentally conscious community — and, of course, make the world a bit greener, one plant at a time!”

💚 Ármin Merksz
„I’m Ármin from Budapest, and I believe in leaving a mark on the spaces we inhabit. This first led me to street art and the joy of catching the eyes of passers by. This project takes that impulse further, offering a chance to create something both meaningful and lasting, rooted in shared values. I’m excited to be part of a community where creativity meets green space, and where artistic expression becomes part of a living, growing environment.”

💚 Nat Skoczylas
„We aim to build an infrastructure for survival in the face of global warming, displacement, and the movement of people and species. This roots at, and is inspired by ‘Massia’, an old school site in Estonia, re-imagined as a residency for arts and ecology. This location is transforming into aeco/queer, trans feminist space. The space welcomes artists, creatives, local citizens and politically active people. Our goal is to develop a project that strengthens the sustainability and autonomy of such spaces through collectively owned resources, local food chains, and shared practices of care.”

💚 Anna Kudron
„Through university and artistic projects, I explore the relationship between water, the city and humanity. I aim to carry this knowledge into both local and European contexts. With a background in theatre and fashion, and textiles, and creating hybrid workshops. My work often feeds back into theoretical research and publications. I look forward to developing project ideas across diverse cultures. This residency offers a unique platform to engage with urgent ecological questions and foster collaboration.”

💚Tania Gallibus
„What matters most to me in this project is the space it opens for collective presence. Where bodies, landscapes, and stories meet the Earth and to one another can become a creative and political act, grounded in mutual support, slowness, and relational depth rather than performance or production. For me, the landscape is not a backdrop but a living being, a partner we engage with through sensory dialogue and artistic practice.”
💚 Flavia Antoniazzi
„I am an Italian multidisciplinary artist currently based in Brussels. I explore the intersections between painting, multimedia installation, performance, and movement. My artistic practice is rooted in the body. I have devoted myself to performance art, studying movement and dance as ways to access alternative forms of perception and non-verbal language. Alongside this, I integrate analog photography and documentary work. With PLACE, I seek to cultivate a deeper connection with natural spaces through artistic exploration.”
💚 Dorina Bencsics
„The project PLACE resonates deeply with my passion for connecting communities through thoughtful, design-driven approaches. I firmly believe that creativity can spark new perspectives and inspire meaningful change. It offers a unique opportunity to explore placemaking strategies that reconnect people with the natural world—by drawing on the deep, ancestral knowledge carried in our bodies for generations. Driven by curiosity and a strong commitment to positive transformation, I am eager to learn, collaborate, and contribute to avibrant, interdisciplinary exchange of ideas.”
💚 Shama Khanna
„In my work and research, I shine alight on growing spaces which are queer and anti-colonial, responding to the great need for nature connection amongst marginalised communities and who may not have help organisations to reflect, grow and inspire others to develop their own projects. With its priorities to enable people to come together through art for the survival of our endangered planet, my hope is that the Place Performing Landscapes will enhance the scale of my ambition and connect me with inspiring and inclusive gardening communities across Europe.”

💚 Thula
„My engagement with ecology is rooted in research and experimentation, exploring ways of living with the natural world and honoring it. Knots are central to my practice: each other and the Earth. I believe in weaving resilient communities through shared gardening, where artists exchange ideas, questions, and knowledge in acts of co-creation. These practices nurture deeper, more sustainable connections with ourselves, with others, and with the eco systems we belong to. In this time of ecological and social crisis, PLACE touches something vital.”
